Lions or Cars?
I have been in a bit of a nostalgic mood lately. Not sure why. Perhaps it’s being back on the east coast (land of my childhood). So when I came across this link about a possible Voltron movie last week, I almost jumped out of my chair with glee. I just hope they don’t mess it up.
I should mention, that while I loved Voltron (only the far superior Lion version, of course), it was not my all-time favorite cartoon. That honor went to Star Blazers. Of course I don’t remember any of the plot or characters, but what I do remember is that it was a serial. It was like a soap opera for young geeks. I also remember that after each episode, all the Star Blazer fans in the neighborhood would congregate on one of the neighbor-kid’s front porches to discuss the show and re-enact key scenes. I should probably be embarrassed of this, but, man I loved that show.
Uh-Oh, Netflix has the DVDs. Poor, poor Mrs. getdonkey. This could be worse than when The Black Hole came out on DVD.

Damn if only I was old enough when Star Blazers was out to get those reenactments on video. That would have been excellent blackmail material.:twisted: Of course if you found out you and Stephen probably would have just tortured me more by putting me in the “rumble chamber” or dressing me up as “Bud Galanti.” Ahh sweet memories…

I saw this article as well and was quite suprised. Dreamworks SKG is also working on a Transformers movie. While I didn’t collect Transformers, I did have the toy “Lion” version of Voltron. I think it is still in my parents’ basement. I think the lions ultimately were cooler, but the “car” Voltron had a neat aircraft carrier space ship that reminds me of the one in the original Wing Commander game. At any rate, I am not holding out much hope for either of these movies. I definitely wouldn’t mind seeing the original Star Blazers cartoon again. PS: The Black Hole is awesome!
