  1. I think this will backfire on Bush. People don’t really support gay marriage yet, but a lot of people who oppose gay marriage are not in favor of a constitutional amendment banning it. It looks like it won’t even have a majority to pass the Senate, let alone the 2/3 needed. If it gets held up in the Senate it will make Bush look outside the mainstream.
